Oppo Southgate Compton (a)
Type 40 Overs
Report by Liam Mulholland

The O's were without skipper Richardson for the trip to Southgate Compton as he was resting up for an important grudge match against Grave Dodgers 4's the following Wednesday.
The day started badly when James Amos felt poorly driving to the game, he explained to the Doctor at the hospital, that if the O's are bowling first, he will probably get the
2nd over, once Jack Baker-Merry has bowled 3 half trackers and 3 beamers the wonderful shit ball we supply will look like a conker. The doctor was very reassuring, explaining
there is a many good match balls from other well known retail outlets. He immediately felt better but thought it wise to avoid the game in the searing heat.
The O's were given the option of batting first and skipper Hudson jumped at the opportunity. The innings got off to a bad start when old man Mulholland gloved one to the keeper
in the 3rd over. Fortunately Ish Sharma was in good touch and scored a useful 40. His innings started slowly as he constantly checked the skies for Lancaster Bombers, Spitfires
and the Red Arrows, the umpires explained that the fly past doesn't happen every week and he will have to wait for The Kings birthday next year.
Hudson(33) and Chris Duncan had a very entertaining partnership of 89, Duncan finishing with a wristy 44. O's finishing on a competitive 188-7.
In reply Wallis was quickly into his stride pummelling boundaries to all parts of the ground. On the back of Duncan's innings, Hudson quickly introduced him into the bowling attack,
Duncan's day, destroyer Duncan, all possible headlines, unfortunately it was Duncan that was destroyed as his 2 overs were pounded for 41. Debutant Ronnie Lane having his first bowl
for 15 years, looked like he had his wicket when he flogged one to mid wicket to the safe hands of Hiscock but unfortunately Matt chucked it over the boundary. Wallis hit a
ridiculous 100, with balls landing in nearby postcodes, once retiring, bored normal cricket resumed. Hiscock (2-18) picking up his 100th wicket for the club, denying Patel (48)
his 50. The hosts finishing the chase 4 down with nearly 10 overs to spare. Tough day for the 10 men. Lane seemed to enjoy his pint of gin & tonic after the game, so he may return
for future games.
Next game Essendon - July 9th.
