The O's supporters made their way to North London to face Mayfield on a wet and drizzly day. As the rain cleared both sides agreed to crack on with the game with the O's bowling first.

Before play commenced the Os were met with a tsunami of words that raced towards them from the garrulous Mayfield captain Ravi Singh - who attempted the world record of most words spoken by any person ever, his mouth running amok underneath a magnificent twiddly Guy Fawkes style mustache.

Indeed there were fireworks from the start as Praveen bowled superbly, swinging the ball nicely in tandem with Dave Revell. The pravmeister ran through the top three, with one bowled, an lbw and a caught behind from Riches.

To keep Alan Wicks out of the attack would have been treason and he replaced Praveen at the top end. Al was all fired up and encouraged his teammates by screaming cryptic riddles between deliveries - "What's good for the goose is good for the gander!" he cried. Passers by stopped in their tracks and pensioners looked up from the park benches to take heed. "What is good for the goose is good for the gander!" he bellowed (seemingly pointing an accusatory finger at Mulholland in the slip cordon). What did he mean? The words rang around the recreation field and hung in the air, only to be met with the blank stares and confused expressions of his teammates. Was this Al's Eric Cantona's "seagull trawler" moment? Or was he delirious from his 10 over spell? Only the great man knows the true meaning of those words!

Either way the blue touch paper was lit and Alan blasted through the middle order in an explosive spell of swing bowling. He finally dismissed banger Khan with a sparkling delivery for yet another five wicket haul (5-19) as his performance began trending on Twitter #bethalgreenlegend.

At the other end Ollie Marsh's bowled a great spell pitching the ball up and letting batsman take their chances.
Mayfields innings suddenly had a second wind with Stark hitting 45no as they finished on 168 - a good total on a sporting wicket.

Liam and Ed opened after tea with both getting peppered by short pace bowling from both openers. As Ed was fending deliveries off his face off a length, Liam decided this would be much more fun watching it as an umpire and steered one into the hands of gully. Despite the unpredictable pitch the O's progressed well to 20 overs with Hiscock (batting with Graham Napiers bat!) and Heed sharing stands with Ed. With 50 required from 10 overs it was set to be a good finish. With Heed gone Andy Humphrey came in to hit a quick fire 25 in a 50 run stand with Ed who finished on 95no.

A great game and the O's enjoyed a few beers in Mayfields bar looked after by excellent hosts Ravi Singh and Dave Stark, the highlight of which was watching Ritzy very carefully reverse out of the worlds smallest car park!
