Following a late cancellation by Woodford Green, LOSCC headed for one of their most local games of the season against Caribbean cricket side Hawks at 
Jubilee Sports Ground.

Given how close the game was to a London train station, you'd naturally assume that XI would be ready and raring to go for the start of the match, 
especially given a slight delay to allow the pitch to dry out. However, you'd assume wrong.

Only 9 players took to the field at the start of the game as Jack Baker-Merry, who'd travelled down from Manchester on the morning, lost another toss. The 
squad was boosted by Ben 'Ringer' Summers, who'd be discovered on a Leytonstone neighbourhood watch chat, making him LOSCC's very own Roy Essandoh.

When the second ball of the day was dutifully dispatched to the boundary, LOSCC expected a long afternoon. But an impressive opening bowling spell by both 
Alan Syrett who had a quick reaction stumping from Dano and Uncle Ansar Hussain took four wickets for just a combined 50 runs.

Uncle Ans was especially effective with three wickets but his spell will surely be remembered for his head-height no ball which was not only diverted for 
six runs, but also made the batsman so mad that there was a brief thought he was walking off the pitch after shouting "WT? It's a six anyway".

Elliot Byrne's first match in two years started in reasonable style with a wicket in his opening over, but he seemingly forgot how to bowl as the game went 
on, his final over being particularly expensive. Edgy Barot contributed with 2 excellent catches off of uncle and Elliott respectively.

At the other end, John Hayes was putting in an admirable shift and found two wickets of his own, clean bowling Hammy and a juggling catch off the Hawks 
skippers glove by Dano kept the supporters entertained. with Matt Hiscock also getting in on the action. Elliott kept himself in the game with a catch off 
of skipper Jack's bowling to take top scorer Sohail out of action. Kas Malik rounded off the bowling attack with a solid over of his own, with what is 
apparently a trademark random change of sides midway through (TM all rights reserved).

Worth noting that Hawks were operating with a transfer strategy that seemingly only allowed for left-handers to be in their team, reminiscent of Athletic 
Bilbao's Basque only strategy, Guadalajara's Mexican only strategy and Leyton Orient's no functioning hamstring only strategy.

Now for tea, a Caribbean feast of rice & chicken curry, well worth waiting for! Only missing the Guiness and rum punch.

Hawks concluded with 165 for 9 after 35 overs, setting what appeared to be a chaseable total. But it quickly became apparent that it would be a tougher 
chase than expected.

Our ringer confidently requested to open the batting and he did so alongside Sandeep Barot. Early signs were good as Hawks seemed set on losing the tie on 
extras and leg byes alone, but a change in field soon settled them down with runs hard to score on a dry pitch.

Prantham Bhatia excited, much to John's Auntie Julie's delight, with a quick fire 27 runs, including several boundaries, whilst Matt and Kas offered 
steady 19 and 14 respectively.

However, as the light faded and boundaries became fewer and further between, the likelihood of chasing down the total became lower. Malik was unfortunately 
run out by an exocet throw direct at stumps, albeit Uncle Ansar had PLENTY of tips and feedback on that one.

Byrne saw himself yorkered on his very first ball and while John hit a nice boundary, the O's were bowled out for 126.

Nonetheless, a great afternoon out that was boosted by a memberal sensational Caribbean curry tea and a number of beers afterwards.
