Match Report Date 30/06/13 Oppo – Epping Foresters (h) Type – 40 Overs Report by Gloria Sunshine The O's bounced back from 4 defeats on the trot in emphatic style on a gloriously hot day at Barkingside. With most players confused when they turned up by a strange yellow object in the sky, Foresters won the toss and decided to bat first in case the yellow ball landed and abducted them. O's opening bowlers Auton (3-16) and Baker-Merry (2-29) bowled exceptionally well and tied down the Foresters batsman. Both bowlers taking good wickets. A good 53 from Foresters number 4 put up some resistence, but the O's youthful bowlers Runeckles (2-43) and Sivasuthan (2-6) soon wrapped up the Foresters innings for 130. After an epic Tina tea of Hotdogs, chips, cakes and 2 free cinema tickets, the O's openers went out to bat confident they could knock this total off and return to winning ways. Some excellent fast opening bowling from Ellis (0-11) and some good balls in amongst some rubbish (his words not mine) from Brown (2-40) saw 2 of the O's batsmen return to the hutch. However, the ever reliable Tooth batted sensibly and carried his bat for a well deserved 69NO to see the O's over the line with 8 overs to spare.
