Match Report Date 30/05/10 Oppo – Epping Foresters (a) Type – 40 Overs Report by Liam Mulholland. The O`s unbeaten start to the season came to an end in an exciting match at sunny but chilly Epping Foresters. Fielding a very strong looking line up with the inclusion of Vince Mulholland in a Sunday fixture for the first time since 2006 the O`s were pretty confident of victory, still fresh from his efforts in the London Marathon and currently inundated with requests from major blue chip companies to give motivational speeches skipper Richardson had no hesitation in sending his troops into bat with orders to rack up a monster score.Unfortunately due to the rain the previous day batting proved pretty tricky for first half of the innings the O`s losing the first 3 in the order including the 2010 Terminator model back from the factory in China, all looked good for our revamped model but after a blistering 4 & 6 his circuits played up again and he was on his way back to China for further repairs.Kumar and Tooth continued their fine partnership from last weekend with another excellent stand of 108 in 18 overs Tooth first to go with a well crafted 62 to continue his marvelous start to the campaign,Kumar fell for 47 short of a deserved 50 as the O`s finished on 194-6 at the break.Another magnificent spread by the Foresters at tea had the O`s pilling their plates higher than the Canary Wharf tower. On resumption 195 would be a good chase but with the wicket looking lighter in colour added to the excess scoffing at tea Foresters were still very much in the game,V.Mulholland rolled back the years striking with 2 wickets, the 2nd a fine slip catch by the Tibster who may have mistaken the ball for his 15th chicken leg of the day. At 65-3 the O`s looked on top but a fine partnership between Bazzoni and Ellis of 52 with Ellis hitting a quick fire 38 got Foresters back in the contest,Ellis was removed by the returning gargantuan Wicks who has obviously wintered well on his new diet of pheasant, caviar and huge goblets of port now he has acquired a huge country estate in Essex funded by his dealings with the underworld in East London.A smart run out by Kumar quickly followed and at 117-5 in the 26th over the game had tipped in balance of the O`s again.Quant added good support to get Foresters back on track and with the game finely poised at the start of the 37th over skipper Richardson called for his main man,27 needed 7 wickets down this is the time once and for all to put those voting conspiracies to bed,who shot JFK ?,who voted for Hillier ?,were there alien sightings at Roswell ?,who voted for Hillier ?did NASA fake the moon landings ?,who voted for Hillier ?, was Lady Di murdered ?,who voted for Hillier ?.The man who collected 27 wickets with his dobbers and frisbees and somehow walked off the POTY award now had the chance to prove it was all deserved and the club could finally call of the ECB,MCC,CIA,MI5,AA,CAMRA and any governing body in this search for Hillier voters,we waited with baited breath and...........................OUR HERO CRACKED,HIS BOTTLE WENT,HE CACKED HIMSELF,enough it was not the boy`s best over, somehow the over only went for 14 with Ramanuja claiming a quite incredibly catch on the boundary but rolling back onto the field of play covered in dock leafs, bracken, bits of bark, and a squirrel round his neck I have the feeling he may have had a toe or two over the boundary line.13 now required off 3 overs(should have been 7 Rav)totally different game. Foresters now grabbed their chance for victory Bazzoni finishing the finishing the match with 4 balls to spare to finish on a fine unbeaten 47 with handy support form Scott who finished on 13 Not Out,a cracking game of cricket and a deserved win for the fighting Foresters.I thought this question would not be asked any more but unfortunately one more time WHO VOTED FOR HILLIER ?.
