Match Report Date 29/08/10 Oppo – Woodford Green (a) Type – Timed game Report by Liam Mulholland. O`s won the toss and decided to field with rain forecast and their current successful chasing record a good call by skipper Heed in the time game at Woodford Green, Green got off to a flier punishing the wayward Graham for a flurry of boundaries, Tooth quickly slowed the rate down with 2 quick wickets and the people`s champ chipped in for one in a fine nagging spell of 11-3-22-1 the champ`s last over going for 10 when his legs could stand no more on top of his early morning fox hunt with his trusty steed `Reggie`. After a short break for rain when tea was also taken the teams returned with Green attacking the short boundary in a rush for quick runs, Sulosan collecting his first wickets for the club which included a fantastic catch in the deep by Hiscock who had to make ground and dive for the catch as it dropped over his shoulder. Green declared on 191-6 after 45 overs. Turning straight round the O`s opener Kumar was far better prepared than the week before having demolished 16 sandwiches, 9 cakes, 8 packets of crisps, 7 slices of melon and 3 large mugs of tea when the early tea was taken. 192 could have proved a tricky chase as the O`s were only going to receive 33 overs in return but this proved no problem as the colossus from Colombo fortified by his tuck blasted a quick 42 in the first wicket stand of 54 with Tooth who sat back and admired the blitzkrieg from Kumar. The arrival of a slow bowler done for big Arnie as he was dismissed for the 787th time in his career to a Hillier style delivery. Marsh was quickly into his stride keeping O`s well up with the rate even hitting his first 6 since he played subbuteo to the massive 16 yard leg side boundary which he only just cleared. Meanwhile Tooth enjoying his golden summer on Sundays rattling up yet another stylish 50. Green`s bowlers were taken apart in a stand of 116 in 16 overs before `cave in Kumar` unsettled by the jeering crowd who had one fanta too many gave Marsh out LBW to a delivery that looked like it was sliding down Broadmead Road. Tooth went for 75 caught for the 892nd time in his career thus depriving himself of the not out that would have pushed his Bradman like numbers to over a 100 average for the season, skipper Heed finished the job blasting a four with 19 balls to spare as the O`s romped to a 7 wicket victory.
