O's started the season in weather conditions more like February against their close friends Ilford Catholic.
On winning the toss skipper Marsh had no hesitation sending the Catholics to freeze in the field. Some old heroes
made a welcome return to the team, Arnie Kumar replacing the Minkster who was on a vegan retreat for the weekend.
Kumar lost the edgemeister early as he was nailed in front to a swinging delivery from Mayuran Thiru. Another old
favourite, Ravi Ramanuja joined Kumar and the pair of them added 160 for the second wicket, they rode their luck
as in the arctic conditions there must have been a dozen refusals as fielders keep their hands in their warm pockets.
Ramanuja fell run out for 78, leaving Kumar to blast the fourth ball of the final over over midwicket for 4 to reach
a wonderful hundred. After Kumar blocked the first two balls of the over luckily Ravi realised the danger screaming
to Kumar from the pavilion that two were required for the ton. O's amassing a wholly mammoth score of 201-3, the
Catholics team left the field looking a very sorry sight. With the Minkster away players actually saw the tea table
and some lovely food for a change. In reply the game was over quickly as Graham & Hillier floated up their various
frisbees, kites, which proved too much for the frozen batsman, Graham 3-27 pick of the bowlers. Only a fighting 96
run stand between Zaman 56 & Mayuran Thiru 50 not out for the 8th wicket made the score look a little respectable.
O's comfortable winners by 26 runs as ICCC finished on 175-8. Next up Bloomsbury Royals at home.
