Match Report Date 28/07/13 Oppo President XI (h) Type 40 Overs Report by Les Dennis Following the amazing tricks at Woodham Mortimer by Harry Potter which included running around a cricket ball 3 times and making several cans of beer disappear without producing any money, it was back to 'near normality' for the annual Presidents XI game on a sunny afternoon at Barkingside Rec. The Presidents XI were offered the opportunity to bat first which gave the opportunity to Ajay and Anuj to open the innings and with neither batsman managing to hit the ball off the square, Bob Marsh captaining the O's tactically threw the ball to Steve Rumbold who bowled very well with some nicely flighted pies teasing the batsman time and time again. Dan Auton at the other end found the breakthrough removing Ajay with an excellent caught and bowled much to the frustration of skipper Marsh who suddenly saw the run rate shoot up to 2 an over. Mo Zaman was next to fall with a plum LBW decision to which he was not impressed. The slow run rate continued and began to cause frustration with both batsman playing some risky shots. The innings then turned into a battle of the family fortunes - The Naylors v The Rajasegarans M Naylor making his debut, soon got the score moving to record a quick fire 21 despite two dropped catches from Ricky Saha until falling victim to the impressive bowling of Rohit Rajsegaran. Not to be undone by his little brother, Gowtham bowling at the other end then made history by stealing the wicket of the first female to play for the Presidents S Naylor. The 'Daddy' Ryan Naylor then came to the crease and quickly got 10 on the board until being sent packing following a stunning catch by skipper Marsh of Rohit's bowling which must have stung the fingers! Young Rohit embarrassed his brother by picking up his third wicket (his brother only managed two) recording impressive figures of 3-22. Mulholland made a quick 27 to lift the score to respectability until being caught off Matt Hiscock to wrap up the innings on 141 All out With the O's having had a troubled season, they called back EPL star (Ethiopian Premier League) Bob James from Addis Adaba and having shed a few stone and managing to get his numerous pairs of pants through customs, James looked in good form making a nice 20 and getting the O's off to a good start before unfortunately chipping one to second slip off the bowling of S Naylor. The young lady then dismissed Ricky following a catch from Zaman. That brought Marvel (49 Not out) to the crease who ground out a really good knock displaying some excellent shots and with the support of Sharma (48) they looked as though were going to see the O's home until M Naylor picked up his first wicket with the ball. The Naylors not happy with the early battle with The Rajasegarans (I am getting fed up of spelling this now!) went for double money and managed to take both quick wickets of Gowtham and Rohit to return the favours and give the Presidents XI some final hope but it wasn't to be as Marvel saw the O's home. We asked 100 people to name their favourite superhero . Let's see what the top answer is .Marvel 100
