After an absence of 16 days, O's were back in action at Southgate Adelaide looking to turn around their 104 run drubbing of 2024. Under new skipper Sir Jack Baker
Merry and the team missing multiple regulars it was going to be a tough ask. He was hard at work with his spread sheets of bowling speeds and batting wagon wheels,
he thumped the table and shouted 'God strike me down how can I work with this shite?' when one of his players stats say he hasn't got the ball off the square this
season and speed gun registers no speed.

Hosts batted first and were into their stride with numerous boundaries, the scoreboard rocking along at an alarming rate, Captain Jack brought Ish Sharma into the
attack claiming 2 quick wickets to slow the scoring, meanwhile opener B Hammond thumped a brutal ton before retiring, runs continued to flow but O's chipped away
and eventually bowled S.A out for 262. Chintan Shah 2-23, Daji 2-58 top wicket takers.

A huge chase but O's were out of the blocks quickly with Karan Shah and Rajiv Manchanda playing the speedy skipper R.Hammond very well, quickest bowler on a Sunday
this season. Manchanda played a glorious cut shot but to follow was a nasty bouncer he just avoided. Shah (15) was out in the 6th over with the score on 35. The
President continued to move the score on despite looking very scratchy, at 20 overs 122-1 the chase was still on track, immediately after drinks Manchanda (62)
departed in a stand of 87 and soon after the President (21) was also dismissed. Wickets continued to fall and at 139-5 it looked like the innings would fall away.
Captain Jack (32) and Ish Sharma (46) played extremely well in poor light with an 81 partnership that had the hosts worried, Sharma after a massive leg side 6 was
caught by a sliding R Hammond on the boundary which denied Sharma a deserved 50. The speedy Syrett managed to run 2 team mates out as O's finished on a very
respectful 235-9, 27 short of victory. Fine effort by the team and Captain Jack who had a solid first game as Captain, shuffled his bowlers well, bravely allowed
the President one over at slip then sent him to the boundary for the remaining 39 overs, no stories to tell out there on your own. A wicket, catch and useful runs
from Captain Jack as well.

Some wonderful stories in the bar from Antigua Alan, when he used to practise with Sir Viv Richards and Andy Roberts, telling Viv had to use his pad and block, Viv
declined being the Master Blocker and fancied the Master Blaster instead. Tales of being attacked by a Tiger Shark off Barbuda, then not sleeping for 3 days at the
Antigua carnival drinking English Harbour Coeur de Savalle, a rum so strong it will blow your cricket pads off, whilst at the Antigua festival he was voted top DJ
playing Soca, Bouyon music amongst other classics. Then he told how he was the match maker to Paul and Cheryl Gascoigne..............with his audience open mouthed
in disbelief they quickly necked their beers and made a hasty departure.

Next week Ware CC for more tales of the unexpected.
