Report by Dave Revell

The final home game of the O's season saw a match packed full of incidents.
First of all for those Alderton CC players who may be reading this report, please see the following from the "rules of cricket"
"A full toss - a ball which does not bounce - from a seam bowler reaches the batsman at waist height.
However, a waist-high full toss is permissable from a slower bowler, as long as it doesn't go above the batsman's shoulder.
If it does, then the umpire will call a no-ball"
so hopefully that will clear that up!
As you can see from the above a brilliant catch from Alan Wicks in the deep was called a "no-ball" by Ashraf,
from the bowling of Richardson, not exactly the Hogwart's express is he!
The ball did not get above waist height, let alone shoulder height, so they were wrong on both counts anyway.
This incident sparked high emotions from both teams with Alderton threatening to walk off and Polly having the honour
of being the first ever O's player to be "sin-binned" for 10 minutes to cool down. Alan Wicks also had to phone
HSS hire centre to cancel the concrete-mixer ordered some 20 minutes beforehand.
Anyway back to the game, Bob James batted superbly in his 6 innings for his 100, being dropped 5 times by the oppo
including on 99! One dropped catch from Alderton saw 2 of their players collide with each other, with "I just trod on a nail", Ali
ending up in hospital with a broken arm. Well done Bob on your 1st ton for the club.
Simon Heed also batted well and it looks as though we have been missing his batting this year also!
The bowlers responded well (apart from hand-grenade hillier!), and some superb fielding from Jack Hughes saw Alderton skittled cheaply.
