The 2015 season kicked off in cracking style with a 35 over run fest at Barkingside. With both teams having
12 players on Thursday, a quick turn around saw both teams turn up with 9 on Sunday. A few ring arounds saw
2 extra players turn up and allowed what was meant to be a 10 a side game turn into a 11 v 9 game in favour
of ICCC. How did that one work out?
ICCC having won the toss decided to put LOSCC into bat. A brilliant opening partnership of 153 between Ed Tooth
and Steve Ward ensured the OÕs were off to a flyer. Some brutal hitting by Ward in particular and some stylish
shots from Tooth along with brilliant running between the wickets had ICCC skipper Chintan scratching his head
wondering what to do next. Despite some excellent bowling, the OÕs made an impressive 208-1 from their 35 overs
with Tooth making 89 not out and Ward 82.
After a brilliant Liam tea, Catholics went out to bat against 9 man OÕs confident they could knock the runs off.
Some Good tight bowling from the OÕs openers Hiscock and Revell, saw the first 8 overs go for just 30 runs with
a brilliant run out by young Ollie Marsh keeping the pressure on. The OÕs were always going to struggle to get 5
bowlers and the arrival of Salman and Ollie Mitchell at the crease saw carnage ensue.
Both batsman were brutal on anything short and once they had their eyes in were also brutal on anything of a
good length.
With Ollie getting a brilliant 103 not out on his first appearance for ICCC the game was over in just 26.4 overs.
Next week the OÕs face St.Andrews at home and are hoping that 11 players may decide they want to turn up this week.
