Match Report Date - 24/05/09 Oppo – South Loughton (h) Type – 40 Overs Report by Glenn Evans. In stark contrast to the previous weeks freezing conditions LOSCC were put into the field in sweltering heat by St Loughton. The opening batsmen started slowly but steadily with the LOSCC bowlers Tooth and Ravi bowling well from the first over. With 43 on the board Ravi claimed the first wicket with a c+b, sending Farthing back to the pavilion on 30. St Loughton then put on a 123 run 2nd wicket stand which was finally broken by Tooth in his second spell, removing Henmans (62) off stump from the ground. Tooth repeated this feat a few overs later, removing a quick scoring Sahuta J on 87. Garside and Chugtai finished the 40 overs with a lot of chancey singles, which saw Garside being runout on a suicidal 2nd run with the last ball of the innings. St Loughton finishing on 249-4 Mulholland and Evans confidently opened the batting for LOSCC, and scored quickly until Evans (44) saw his off stump upended by a great ball from Amos. This brought Rob Jones to the crease who, with Mulholland, upped the runrate even faster. With just 10 runs required to win Jones(63) was bowled by Patel. This brought Bob James to the crease, and with Mulholland needing 7 of the required 10 for his hundred James ably assisted him to reach his 21st century for LOSCC reaching 252-2 with over 5 overs of the game to spare.
