Match Report Date 20/05/18 Oppo Woodford Green (a) Type 40 Overs Report by Mo Zaman After last week’s heavy defeat the club shuffled the pack with their 198 man squad, the man for a crisis Captain Marvel Riches was brought back to bring some winning pedigree to the team. Immediately winning the toss Marvel had no hesitation in batting first, the trusted combo of the Minkster and Edgemeister sent out to open, Minkster had his usual innings block, block 6, block, block 4, block, block out. This boy does not deal in singles, as we normally see at tea, sandwiches 6, chicken wings 4, slice of cake 24, sausage rolls 32, cups of tea 2. No future in singles says the man of 275,000 calories. As ever the innings was held together by yours truly (Mo Zaman)who scored 84, given great support by Kris Iyer 31 not out & Marvel Not Out 40, yet another fine skippers innings and debutant R.Chowdhury who scored a classy 31. A very imposing 238-5 for the O’s. Sadly the Minkster had been let loose at the tea table, his plate so heavy and over loaded the table cannot stand the weight and a chair leg shot out sideways, all fair game to the Minkster as he squirted tommy sauce on the chair leg and demolished it in no time splinters flying out of his mouth nearly taking the tea lady’s eye out. Remarkable sight. After all the excitement in the tea room the second innings got under way. Marvel’s bowlers blowing away the top order with Arun Singh leading the way with 4-16, good support by another debutant Shaun Lee with his mystery spinners 2-44, even Hillier ponced a wicket with his filth. Impressive win by the O’s as they bowled out Green for 168. Captain Marvel then took his team on an open bus top bus parade of Woodford to a banquet of food at the town hall, perfect end of the day for our man of a thousand menus, The Minkster. Woodham Mortimer next up at QE2 field.
