Match Report Date 19/06/16 Oppo Hockerill (a) Type 40 Overs O’s suffered another defeat at Hockerill as their oldest fixture produced another close game. Batting first the hosts got off to a flurry of boundaries but were pegged back when Richardson knocked over both openers clean bowled. Unfortunately that brought Rob Sanders to the crease who is averaging close on to a 1,000 over the years v the O’s, he has taken apart the O’s attack at will. With everyone on strict instructions to get rid of him as quick as possible sadly Hillier not quite picking up the message as he threw a regulation slip catch to the floor of Revell. O’s feared the worse but Hiscock spared his blushes claiming a stunning one handed catch on the boundary that was destined for a flat six to get ride of the danger man for 36, giving Richardson another wicket to finish with a tidy 3-25 spell. Shahzoor top scored with a unbeaten 70 but was helped by yet more drops from debutant Stefan Minkey and new gloveman Whittam. Mulholland chipped in with another 3-21 return as the hosts were hustled out for 185. In reply Zaman & the minkster started steadily until Sanders produced a wonderful low catch to dismiss Zaman off a full bloodied drive, wickets started to tumble and the O’s looked buried but a wonderful partnership from Riches 57 and Mulholland 39 nearly turned the game for the O’s, with 4 overs left 32 were required but Mulholland was clean bowled leaving one end open for the bowlers, Riches was caught behind in the last over blazing away for another boundary as the O’s fell short by 18, only the second defeat of the season.
