The O`s pulled off a remarkable win at High Beach when all seemed lost. On another beautiful day the O`s decided to field in
a time game against High Beach. POTY Hillier and young Ollie Graham open the attack with a mixture of decent line and length
and some floaty rubbish. Hillier took out both openers with another dismissal that defied belief, another half tracker that
should have been pumped deep into the forest incredibly got a fine edge and looped gently into the air enabling glove man
Allen (standing in for Riches who has been sent away by the club on an anger management course to try and calm the lunatic
down) to calmly walk forward and pouch the catch. On a very dry track the introduction of spinner Hiscock caused the batsman
trouble with steep bounce and turn also causing grief for Allen who was keeping in ground that resembled a sand pit behind
the sticks. Hiscock claimed a brace as Beach were reduced to 117-4, Glasgow plundered a flurry of boundaries and the score
raced to 150, the gargantuan Wicks who arrived at the ground on his trusty stallion `Reggie` was brought into the attack and
struck immediately with his first ball. The one time psychotic gangster from the east end rolled back the years as he teared
down the sloop like a teenager blasting through the tail to finish with 4-30. Ramanuja claimed 2-19 getting huge turn and
bounce on a wicket which was deteriorating by the over. 202 was the target which could prove tricky. Tricky indeed as the O`s
lost both openers with the score on 15, the Mulholland brothers looked set for a partnership but with the score on 38-2 a
devastating over from Gregory took out both brothers one an unplayable lifter to Mulholland senior and junior was shot out
by `Trigger` Hiscock by a delivery that cut back by at least 2 foot, young Graham the 3rd victim with a nasty shooter that
knocked his poles over. 39-5 the O`s were in huge trouble but enter our country gent Wicks who tried to get his butler to do
his running for him but the request was denied by the home skipper. An interesting chat between squire Wicks and Ramanuja
followed with Wicks informing the all-rounder `listen son you play all the cricket shots, I`ll stay at the other end and just
bang it son, are you with me son I`m the peoples champion but I`m just a banger.`Well he was true to his word as he blasted
a quick fire 40 with his macro bat he purchased for £7.86 in a stand of 86 that dragged the O`s back in contention. 125-6
still plenty to chase down but Ramanuja was now joined by Singh and the runs continued to flow the only bit of trouble for
the batsman was on returning for a sharp second Singh screamed in agony as his box came loose and jagged at a nasty angle in
his groin area. Ramanuja is now the new Michael Beaven as he finished unbeaten on a club best 87 finishing another chase in
style with 3 overs to spare with Singh unbeaten on 20 with his box now protecting his ankle in a very handy stand of 80.
Another great victory as the O`s look forward to facing what could be a strong Presidents team next week.
