Report vs Walthamstow

Match Report
Date - 18/05/08
Oppo – Walthamstow (a)
Type – 40 Overs
Report by Ian Richardson

The O's kept up their 'Gallant Losers' tag by going down to a narrow defeat at near neighbours Walthamstow,
ending the game with 3 fit bowlers (and one of them was Hillier!) and 10 men on the pitch as the camp / Greek / Jewish
old boy Polly surpassed even his own record for getting injured, by playing one shot as a batsman then taking off for a
run and breaking his leg in 5 places (or so he said). After a visit to Whipps Cross he was diagnosed with a blister
and told to go away and not bother them again with such a trivial matter.

Back to the game and the O's powerhouse batting line up again excelled - step forward Bob James (0) Eddie Tooth (4)
Simon Heed (1) and Adam Parkes (4). Everyone else got to double figures (even the fatally injured Polly) but nobody got
past 20! - However special mention should go to Evans and Perera who held the top order together for their 18 and
17 runs and the aforemention C"*%ts (see previous report) Richardson and Revell who added some much needed impetus to
the innings.

Good bowling for Walthamstow from the openers Thompson and Onojaife who made the LOSCC batting look slightly crap
(along with lots of other 10 year old bowlers over the last few years)

So with 10 men and without Polly the O's took to the field to defend a paltry 138 and within 10 minutes Revel had done his
hamstring and the skipper tore a calf - well it was a very good tea!

So from having 7 bowlers the O's really only had 5 with the skipper able to bowl off his (even shorter) run up. However,
Tooth and Parkes tore into the Oppo and after 14 overs had decimated the Walthamstow batting and left them 36 - 4. Step forward
Hillier 3 overs for 25 and Walthamstow were back in the game!

Richardson bowled on one leg without any luck and Perera nipped in with 2 important wickets but in the end the O's just came up
short as Johnson bludgeoned his way to 73 before dragging on to his stumps the worst ball of the game bowled by Hillier who
came back well in his second spell (well it couldnt be any worse than his first spell).

The O's had one chance to sneak the game when a skier from Johnson seemed to hang in the air for an age before coming down.
Unfortunately the fielder underneath it was Headmaster Bob James who never looked like catching it and predictably didnt.
He then set himslf 100 lines - "I must contribute in some way in the next game I play"

Anyway to cut a long story short we lost...... again!

To make things worse Alan Wicks turned up in the bar and everyone went home with wrist burn and earache!
