LOSCC won by 5 Wickets

Match Report

Oppo – Theydon Bois (A)
Type – 40 Overs
Report by Simon Heed

LOSCC deservedly won a hard fought game that nearly didn’t happen. Theydon Bois only had seven players at 2pm,
three having called off within half hour of the start. With the promise that they could get another three by about 4pm,
O’s skipper Ian ‘I don’t know if I can be doing with this’ Richardson generously invited the oppo to bat first.
At 23 for 2 it seemed to be going well, but a feisty ton from the skipper Marnoch and a well crafted 68 from Bullivant
saw them rush to 171 after 29 overs. But then some brilliant bowling by Alan ‘Fat Jacques Kallis’ Wicks and three wickets
from Jack Hughes managed to contain Theydon Bois to 241-8 after their 40 overs.
In reply, a similarly poor start by the Os saw Flat-Track Bob James play the worst shot of his seventy-year career,
worse than his pre-war early Gravesend days, out for a single and the O’s were 40 for 2 but keeping up with the run rate.
In step Liam Mullholland who blasted a very sculptured 132 not out, including seven sixes. With good support from Allen,
Riches, Heed and Wicks, the O’s rattled off the target with five wickets and a few overs to spare.
Another special mention to Big Al for his decisive umpiring, which certainly reduced the lively chatting of the opposition!
