Match Report Date - 15/07/07 Oppo – Epping Foresters (h) Type – 40 Overs Report by Liam Mulholland The O`s crashed to a 36 run defeat at the hands of a very young Foresters team who completed the double over the hosts for the season. After winning a best of 5 arm wrestle with Jack for choice of ends big Al Wicks tore down the hill and found himself on a hat trick in the first over sadly the east end hard mans bottle went and he dollied up a juicy leg stump full toss that was pumped for 4. Foresters recovered from 8 for 3 then 87-6 to finally settle on a score of 174-8 off 40 overs with Hazelton batting the whole innings for a match winning 77 not out he rode his luck when Wicks dropped his 767th career caught and bowled chance when the opener was in single figures which proved crucial. During the innings with thunder and lighting in the area and Polly in the outfield a check with our medical team and club insurance the players came off for a short break on returning the Supporters were shocked to find the grass had grown by about 6 inches.. The O`s run chase started well but from 51-3 they soon crumbled to 62-7 a gritty 61 stand from Mulholland and Randall edged the hosts into 3 figures but with the outfield taking the shape of a rain forest boundary hitting was nigh on impossible, the skipper departed for a fighting 46 as the O`s slumped to a 36 run defeat. The selection panel sat down with himself and pondered over a few soft drinks how to find a winning team from his squad of 139 players. Polly as always offered plenty of advice before rushing off to watch a few old friends on the “Zimmers go to Hollywood” tv show. Champagne moment of the day-the skipper left stranded at the club with no lift home-beauty
