Oppo – Capricorn (a)
Type – 40 Overs
Report by Adda Runortwo

Following another fantastic tour for the O's, they were faced with the tough task of Capricorn at home in what was to be an
interesting afternoons cricket.
Skipper Heed won the toss and safe in the knowledge of another supreme hotdogs tea, he had no hesitation in electing to
field.
The O's got off to a fantastic start with Jack Baker Merry taking two quick wickets to put the opposition under some early
pressure and leaving some naive fools wondering if it may be an early finish. Unfortunately they were wrong as a few boom
boys came in to swing from the hip and put runs on the board. Neel Patel and Liam Mulholland took most of the carnage,
going for over 70 runs off of the 9 overs bowled between them.
The O's had lost their way and despite the carefully planned tactic of not bothering to put out boundary markers so the
batsman had no idea whether the ball had gone for 4 (Nice one guys!) a decent cameo from Bhuvik took the visitors to what
looked like a score of around 250.
Martin Riches picked up what was believed to be 4-32 and also Dave Revell got a couple but it was hard to tell exactly what
had happened on the basis most of the scorebook was fiction. Capricorn finished on a score between 236-255ish.
Another splendid hot-dog tea from Tina created a scene which Joey 'Jaws' Chestnut would have been proud of (Look him up -
He's a true American hero!) .
After Revell and Heed finally managed to de-code the Suduko/crossword/dot to dot that was apparently resembling the oppo
scoring, it was agreed that the score to chase was 236. ' It can't be wrong said the oppo skipper, we used our fingers and
toes to count''
Les Edwards got on the phone to Wisden to inform them of the predicament and report the disgraceful management of the
scorebook. ''They have even got Runeckles down as taking a catch!'' - It must be wrong………..
236 was finally agreed to be the target, the O's opened the innings with Tooth and Mulholland. Unfortunately Mulholland got
caught on 1 and no-one really got going. Tooth (21) Rumbold (14) Hiscock (15) Riches (36) all added runs to the score but
the O's lacked a big score which would have seen them take it close. Marsh came in once the O's were 5 down and played a
nice innings top scoring on 40 not out as the O's finished on 174-7

A defeat for the O's after a long hard week…………………Still - Never mind. All together now………………...'We are top of the league
say we are top of the league!'
