Match Report Date 10/07/16 Oppo Nazeing Common(h) Type 35 Overs Report by Dave Revell The sun returned to Barkingside on a day of big sport all around. Andy Murray in the Wimbledon final, Lewis Hamilton in the British Grand Prix, France v Portugal in the final of Euro 2016 and the biggest of the lot, LOSCC vs Nazeing Common. With the sun at an unusual heat, the match was reduced to 35 overs per side to save dehydration for those who managed to turn out. Batting first the O’s (having given one of their better batsman Marsh to the oppo) got off to a flying start with Rana smashing a quick fire 34 in a partnership of 38 with Zaman before he was caught going for one big hit too many. A mini collapse saw 2 quick wickets fall before a captains knock of 22 from Heed and a steady 58 from opener Zaman recovered the innings. An excellent partnership of 55 from 10 overs from Whittam (26no) and Humphrey (28no) saw the total push up to a respectful 175-5. After an excellent virgin Matt Hiscock tea, the O’s set about their bowling tasks knowing danger man Reese was opening. Good tight bowling from Revell and Baker-Merry saw Reese dismissed for 16 with a good catch from Hiscock (still with Marigolds on) off Revell. Matt then came on to bowl and bowled beautifully with pace and turn and bamboozling the oppo batsman from ball 1. Just missing out on a hat-trick and finishing with figures of 3-13 off 7 overs. Mulholland cam eon at the end and bowled well also with figures of 2-12 off 5 and the O’s winning in the end by 50 runs. Next Week away to South Loughton.
