Match Report Date 10/05/15 Oppo Woodham Mortimer (a) Type 40 Overs Report by Grum P T Lady A week after the LOSCC boys recorded their first win of the season, they followed it up with a complete display of great bowling and power batting to thrash Woodham Mortimer by 10 wickets. Bowling first skipper Marsh opened with Cry Boy Wicks and Revell. Both bowled well against some aggressive opening batting from WM. Revell taking the first wicket and Wicks mopping up a walking wicket as he described it, before retiring to fine leg in case any more aggressive batsman smashed his quicker ball to the boundary. It was then that Richardson, returning from his latest hair assignment for at the Cannes film festival, came on to bowl his first overs of the season and quickly settled into his pace bowling and tying the batsman in knots with his unplayable accuracy. At the other end, on came Nav Ali for a spell of bowling that even Dumbledore would not have a spell in his armoury to counter. His magnificent 5 for (8-2-15-5), bamboozled every WM batsman that faced him, getting the ball to turn more than any current spinner that pulls on the England cricket shirt (Strauss take note!) even though the opener for WM said it is not turn, it is the wicket. Which game was you watching! Young Marsh came on at a time when another big hitting WM batsman was in but still managed to bowl well and picked up 2 great wickets and Liam came on to take his usual bunny at the end of the innings to stay ahead of CB Wicks in their personal battle for 4th place on the all time wicket taking list. After Liam had his usual battle with opposition tea ladies, this one resembling one of the 7 dwarfs and a face grumpier than a pensioner who has lost their false teeth 5 minutes before lunch time, the Os donned their pads and headed out to chase down the 140 victory target. New boy Ollie Mitchell and Old boy Riches, headed out to the wicket and produced total carnage for the next 19.3 overs! Powerful hitting from Mitchell (96*) and sensible batting from Riches (26*), taking singles and leaning on his bat at the non-strikers end to watch the ball being blasted to all parts of the ground, including sixes that had the traffic passing by the ground, braking and swerving to avoid the bombardment of red missiles coming their way, ensured the total of 140 was reached before drinks and the Os romped to victory by 10 wickets before retiring to the pavilion for some well earned light refreshment, before CB and Liam headed back to the local to continue their season long battle of I can drink you under the table son.
