Match Report Date - 08/06/08 Oppo – Coopersale (a) Type – Timed Game Report by Dave Revell The O's managed to break their losing streak with a well-earned draw at Coopersale. After last years hammering at the same location, skipper Richardson elected to field first after winning the toss, to (if anything) just give Coopersale a game! The O's taking the field with 10 men after the centrally contracted Perera turned up at 2.29pm, just in time to see the batsmen taking the field. He managed though to get on the field before the first ball was bowled, more to the fact that Wicks was creaking during his warm up. Wicks and Tooth opened the bowling with the former making his first appearance of the season since the birth of his daughter and bowled his first ball, like a man who has been up all night, being fielded by 3rd slip! However, after that both openers bowled very well and restricted Coopersale's opener's to little runs. A change of bowler brought the first wicket, with Rhys Martin taking a wicket. This then brought Hancock in to join Taylor and the pair put on 131 for the second wicket. The partnership broken by Revell. This partnership nearly broke the O's record, with skipper Richardson just avaoiding this with his first 2 overs going for 32. (record is 35). Coopersale ending their innings on 223 for 6 declared. The O's reply started well with Evans and Mulholland putting on over 60 for the first wicket. The score continued to move along with contributions from Paul Martin and Heed. Tooth then joined Mulholland and these 2 continued to move the scoring along towards the target. However, O's chances really faded after both were out in quick succession. Tooth making 34 and Mulholland another stylish and superb 115. The O's finishing just shy of their target on 209 for 8. A really good game of cricket played in good spirit.
