Oppo – ICCC 1994 (h)
Type – 40 Overs
Report by Chump Ian Nomore

Following the wash out the previous Sunday, the O’s took on the ICCC94 championship winning team which featured the
Mulholland brothers, Jolly Rogers and Rasta Naylor all whom still play in the first XI.
The O’s skipper had prepared well though carefully selecting three spinners for the ‘bowler friendly’ Barkingside
pitch. A Wicks (wicketless) and Jack Baker-Merry opened the bowling and whilst Al kept it tight at one end, Baker-Merry
found it difficult finding his length at the other. Clearly the rumoured Italian takeover was troubling JBM as he send
down a fair few extras whilst being smashed for a few runs to top it off. The ICCC94 boys were off to a flyer with 67
on the board after 10 overs.
Heed needed a response and chucked the ball to Dave and Matty who both gave him the response needed. Keeping things
tight at both ends, Matty (2-33)made the breakthrough getting Alexander with a good catch from Heed and then he had
Farrenden trapped LBW an over later. Revell (2-28) meanwhile also got in on the act with a couple of wickets of his
own. Firstly, he had Naylor caught on 5 and then and simple catch for Tooth meant the ICCC boys were now 4 down and
the game had quickly changed.
Leighton meanwhile continued to play some nice shots and was joined by Miller who clubbed 14 before he was caught by
Arnie on the boundary who attempted to catch the ball at the same time whilst doing the Macarena!
Kumar also picked up the prize wicket of V Mulholland and suddenly it looked like the champs had lost their touch.
Andy ‘sicknote’ Humphreys (3-23) came on and finished off the tail meaning ICCC94 finished on 173 all/out. (Think it
was only Al who didn’t get a wicket?)
As usual a magnificent Beryl tea to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the ICCC94 team ensure everyone involved went
out for the second innings a stone heavier!
With a modest target the O’s were taking no chances and Tooth (68) and Ward (55) both batted superbly to get the O’s
off to a good start. Both played some really nice shots and it was no surprise when they both reached 50. The O’s
looked like they were going to win by 10 wickets but Naylor refused to give up the fight picking up the wickets of
both both openers who were disappointed not to finish the job. With the target within reach it was left to Marvel and
Bob to see off the final runs and a fantastic 6 in typical Marvel style was enough to see the O’s home winning by 8
wickets.
Easy! Easy! Easy!
