Report vs Bloomsbury Royals

Match Report
Date 06/05/18
Oppo Bloomsbury Royals (h)
Type 40 Overs
Report by Mo Zaman

In complete contrast from the bitterly cold conditions of a week ago, players were greeted with blazing sunshine.
In perfect conditions O's batted first, unfortunately losing the Edge Meister early to a half tracker that he was
looking to pull for six but sadly crashed into his ankle. Plum Meister today for the man of a thousand nicknames.
The QE2 arena was stunned when Arnie Kumar fresh from his 2nd consecutive ton the day before was run out by a wild
throw that missed it's intended target at the keepers end but crashed into the stumps at the non striker's end with
the big man sadly out of his ground. Krish Iyer on debut played some attacking shots and was joined by the Minkster
who was totally refreshed from his break at the vegan retreat the week before. "Never felt better, totally refreshed,
boundless energy, a new man", these were a few of the comments from the Minkster. He may be correct as he lashed a
David Gower like cover drive that screamed for 6 over extra cover. The Minkster looked set for a big score when he
creamed another drive one bounce straight into covers hand, remarkably he called yes for a single. I am not an expert
on speed but the Tasmanian devil could not have made his ground. The ball was thrown to the bowlers end bails removed,
end of Minkster but is it.........Minkster wants it sent upstairs as he thinks he may have made it. O's were using a
DRS system for the first time with myself(Mo Zaman) perched precariously in the trees on the pavilion side. I went
through the pictures frame by frame after an hour still no sign of the Minkster, our reborn vegan had to go. He trooped
sadly off into the foliage and was last seen chomping away on stinging nettles and dock leaves. Very tasty. O's
struggled to get any flow to the innings and were dismissed for a disappointing 117. In reply the Bloomsbury Royals
openers were treated to veteran Richardson & the 14 year old Raakesh Remeesh. The old boy unlucky with his very first
delivery clipped the bail but sadly speed is no longer there in his little floating deliveries and the bail refused
to budge for that shite pace. He would not be denied as he struck twice to close in his 400 wickets for the club.
Bloomsbury were slightly rattled and when Jeevakan knocked over the dangerous looking Din, Abbas Ghulam then chipped
in with 2 more wickets as O's bowlers fought back. Bloomsbury settled any possible collapse with a sensible partnership
of 35 for the 6th wicket Shakil the dominant partner finishing not out on 47, clinching thee match with 5 overs to go.
Abbas Ghulam pick of the bowlers with 2-18 . With many new players on display the O's showed excellent spirit and
bowled extremely well. South Loughton Away next week as O's look to turn round last years defeats against our local rivals.
