Match Report Date 06/05/12 Oppo – Ex Libris (h) Type – 40 Overs Report by Roald Amundsen. After my long arduous trek to the South Pole, we were unsure on what to expect when we arrived. We knew conditions were harsh so were not expecting penguins or any flora and fauna. The last thing we expected was to see a cricket game played between LOSCC and Ex Libris. In the arctic cold, Libris skipper elected to put the O's in. This seemed the right decision as Maddy fell cheaply, this however brought in the Sri Lankan bear Kumar, who clawed, growled and ripped his way to 93, in a mammoth partnership of 189 with Marsh who scored 96 amongst his fishing expeditions. A quickfire 20 not out from new man Hamberger saw the O's post a huge 230 for 3 from there 40 overs. After a great tea from the new Beryl, Ex Libris set out on the chase. Skipper Revell elected to start the bowling off with new man Auton and Old man Hillier, whose snow balls had the oppo in all sorts of trouble. The freezing wind aiding the snow balls and helping them reach the other end. All the O's bowlers bowled well in the conditions and even Marsh managed to get an over in for just 1 run. Steve Rumbold bowling his 8 overs for 37 and 1 wicket at the short boundary end. Next week a different challenge, where? North Pole? Mauritius? No - Hainult & Clayhall.
