Match Report
Date - 06/05/07
Oppo – South Loughton (a)
Type – 40 Overs

I would have liked to have made a detailed match report here, but with both teams playing a different version of cricket
I feel I have to start with a statement.
Cricket is a gentlemen's game, supposed to be played in the right spirit.
However, South Loughton C.C. seem to have a different view to this.
Their view on cricket is that a batsman can have as many innings as he likes as long as the ball does not hit the stumps.
The 2 leading batsman for South Loughton, edged the ball a total of 3 times between them
and were caught behind on each occassion.
Not only did they not walk, but their umpires also left their hearing aids at home,
even though the edges could be heard in South Africa.
But then, that says it all.
This mode of cheating completely turned the game and even though, these 2 both were out before they reached double figures,
they then made it look as though they were decent batsman by scoring runs, even though not legally.

The only decent batsman worth a mention was Hassan, who came in and played some lovely shots

As for the O's young Jack Hughes batted supremely and made 51, his first 50 for the club in only his second game.
He therefore gets the man of the match award again.

Let's all hope cricket does not go this way in future and that the spirit of the game is upheld in future.
