Report vs Godshill

Match Report
Date 05/08/15
Oppo Godshill(a)
Type 35 Overs
Report by Liam Mulholland

The usual groundhog feeling from Captain Marsh as his team were sent into the field at Godshill,
as in previous years the tour was taking it's toil on the players energy. Yet again the fielding
was piss poor at best on one of the most unforgiving outfields to play on. Pravster pulling up
early not helping the skipper after Prav had strutted his stuff to the early hours unfortunately
a hip replacement looked on the cards for the Pravster. After the allotted 35 overs Godshill
amassed a gigantic 233-2, 15 year old Ponting scored a quite magnificent 142 which his famous
namesake would have been proud of, he hit a huge six that landed in the middle of a car windscreen,
not a pleasant return for the car owner who returned from a relaxing walk in the forest with her
dog to find devastating damage to her car. Underused Humphrey 1-18 finally bowling Pointing. In
reply O's made a great fist of it with all the batters chipping in, Godshill had 2 guests from
the O's for the day and both made huge contributions, Ian Morgan making a brilliant catch at extra
cover to dismiss the centurion Laird from yesterday as he was starting to look dangerous. Our man
Marvel was the other guest and as ever he gave great energy to the fielding team from behind the
stumps. On a chilly afternoon it was one of the best tour games for many years as Rana blasted a
superb 74, well supported by Humphrey who scored yet another half century at one of his favourite
batting tracks, the game reached a great climax with Prav with his arthritic hip needed a boundary
of the last ball to tie the game, sadly a swing and a miss and the O's fell short by just 4 in a
terrific game. Last game of the tour tomorrow at Woodgreen with the guys desperate to finish with
a win.
