Report vs Woodgreen

Match Report
Date 05/08/10
Oppo – Woodgreen (a)
Type – 35 Overs
Report by Liam Mulholland.

Woodgreen`s cunning plan to spoil the O`s sleep back fired when after successfully setting off the fire alarm at 6.00am they
were unaware that 3 of the team were still out and the rest were in such a deep sleep they never heard the alarm. The last
game of the tour was always looking tricky but luckily the O`s came up with eleven with a pulse ready for the game. Sent into
the field after losing the toss was not what the boys were after and when the people`s champ was blasted for 2 fours in the
first over alarm bells were ringing louder than the earlier fire alarm. Ramanuja opened with Wicks in a very passable
impression of Kapil Dev bowling a tidy spell of 1-27, every batsman looked at ease scoring quickly with Baker going for 49
caught by Riches off our Indian quickie. Parker came in and took the attack apart hitting Richardson for 4 consecutive
boundaries in his second over and with two balls left 9 required for the two over record you do not want but the cunning
Richardson lobbed up his best dobber to fight another day as it dribbled away for a single. The return of Wicks proved very
handy as he cleaned up Parker for a rapid 36. Keeper Riches still suffering from his marathon night out where he vandalized
2 slot machines in the casino after numerous visits to a special room upstairs sent the departing Alison Venn after he
caught her off Revell with the departing comments `Off you go love put the kettle on and start cutting some sandwiches for
tea I`m parched and starving`nice man Mr Riches. 210-7 at tea off 35 overs with Stuart Nash unbeaten on 74, a challenging
score for this tiring team. After the usual cake fest at tea the O`s started poorly losing both openers by the 9th over with
the score on 24 enter the rapidly aging Mulholland who after defying his many critics with 3-31 in the field now blasted the
attack hitting 10 fours and 6 sixes reaching his first tour ton for 18 years. With 2 overs to go 24 still required Mulholland
fell caught in the deep for a 111 after a stand of 103 with Riches in 16 overs, the O`s falling just 12 short in a very
entertaining game.
