Match Report Date - 05/08/09 Oppo – Godshill (a) Type – 40 Overs Report by Liam Mulholland. The O's crashed and burned with a crushing defeat by Godshill. After drinking Bournemouth dry the night before the O's arrived at a very wet Godshill with the game being reduced to a 30 over bash, Skipper and bastion of Godshill Alan Cousins quickly into his stride with good support from fellow opener Pollard. The O's attack wasting the bowler friendly conditions allowing a stand of 112 to develop. Cousins eventually dragged from the crease due to technical issues in the tea room for a fine 50. Pollard top scoring with 62 as the O's were set a very tough 183 to win. Due to the problems with the tea it was agreed to turn round for 5 overs before tea would be ready, skipper Richardson produced a masterstroke sending out a pair of tea watchman for the first time in cricket history. With the 5 overs going by for the addition of just 7 runs the chase was going to prove in more difficult and so it proved with only Heed with some huge cow corner shots adding 38 top scoring. Eventually Walker last man to go, caught switch hitting first ball by the diving Cousins to cap a fine day off for Mr Godshill, the O's all out for 146 losing by 36 runs. The tour treble is over but victory at Woodgreen tomorrow is still on.
