Match Report Date 05/07/15 Oppo Oak Hill (h) Type 40 Overs Report by Liam Mulholland O's rocked up to the Oak Hill home game pretty confident of a win after our visitors were recently beaten quite heavily by ICCC. Oak Hill batted first but this looked a different team as the two openers started aggressively, the scoreboard rattled along far too quickly for skipper Heed so the introduction of the legend from Bethnal Green Al Wicks was not before time, Wicks should have opened the bowling but unfortunately he was suffering from that devilish bug 'cry boy syndrome'. It turned out to be a master stroke by the new Meeko as our our man blasted through the Oak Hill batters to claim an outstanding 5-46. Baker-Merry giving good support to pick up 3-26, O's restricted Oak Hill to an all out score of 191 which is a huge score at the QE2 field but at least 70 short of what looked a possible total early on. Keeper Riches and Rana had a very nasty collision both going for a catch, Riches rolled around doing an impression of the wailing wall and we feared for our man marvel. Remarkable he rose to his feet sprinted to the boundary opened a packet of B&H and suddenly after a few puffs he was back in business. In reply O's were always behind the rate, Oak Hill had a lot of variation and depth using 8 bowlers. Steady batting by Marsh 44, Riches 30 and skipper Heed 20 kept O's in the hunt but acceleration not forthcoming today Oak Hill winning comfortably by 22 runs, O's closing on 169-6. Next up ICCC 1994 team who are still smarting from their defeat last year.
