Match Report Date - 05/07/09 Oppo – Walthamstow (h) Type – 40 Overs Report by Liam Mulholland. O's romped to a 70 run win at Home to Walthamstow on another beautiful sunny afternoon, skipper Richardson won the toss again and sent out a strong batting line up chalk up a score. After losing Evans & Jones early, debutant Kumar joined the craggy James at 39-2. The new boy was quickly into his stride doing a fine impression of Sanath Jayasuriya in his prime as he blasted 70 in a blitzkrieg stand of 139 in 17 overs with chatterbox James. At 178-2 in the 28th over the O's looked set to rack up a huge score, but for the first time this season they were bowled out, losing the last 8 wickets for just 58 but still finishing on a handy 236. The evergreen James top scoring with 73 his 12,232nd half century in this never ending career. Walthamstow set off at a fast pace, hitting skipper Richardson for 2 sixes in his 1st over but the skipper responded with yet another slower delivery trapping Nathan.O in front of the sticks, the only doubt for the umpire is if the ball would reach the stumps. The introduction of Parkes and Ramanuja put the brakes on the run rate with the spinner going through a delightful spell of bowling to finish with 2-20, wickets kept falling at useful times for the O's and the dismissal of the dangerous looking Nathan M for 34 with the score at 129-6 in the 27th over effectively finished the contest, with the man who keeps the streets safe at night in the East End for women and children with 4 overs to bowl the chase was going to be very difficult, skipper Richardson managed to bag his 300th victim for the club caught behind by safe hands Redman as the O's coasted home. Selection issues for the skipper with suddenly 17 people available for the trip to the Foresters next Sunday.
