Match Report Date 04/08/15 Oppo Wellow & Plaitford(a) Type 40 Overs Report by Liam Mulholland After a pleasant evening in the night clubs of Bournemouth the O's squad were full of beans for the Wellow and Plaitford fixture. Also with no Rumbold and Graham on tour we had no repeat of Fight Club which took place on the Monday of last years tour. Wellow brought some of their former players back for the day and had a pretty strong batting line up. Fortunately the wicket proved to be tricky early on with Morgan and Rana bowling well. Morgan got 2-36 helped by 2 wonderful catches by Laird, one a swirling skier and the other a diving catch in the gully. Rana nailed skipper Blakey with a shocking shooter. Blakey needs no invitation to take a drink so he quickly forgot his brief innings with copious pints of anything he could get his hands on. O's looked on for a quick win but a patient partnership between Weaver 65 and the evergreen Trutwein who rolled back the years and stroked a classy 67, pumping his old rival Mulholland for a beautiful straight six. The wicket flattened out and Wellow closed on 204-7, a good comeback but maybe not enough. Chintan continued his good form from yesterday with a 2-40 spell. In reply Laird now fully recovered from his ridiculous journey yesterday and the embarrassment of being dismissed by a six year old showed his true ability thrashing 132 not out in just 28 overs as O's raced to victory losing just 2 wickets, Nav Ali giving Laird good support with a bright 34. O's now edge the head to head wins against Wellow as they look forward to the 21st fixture against our good friends from Wellow next year.
