Report vs Hythe & Dibden

Match Report
Date 04/08/14
Oppo – Hythe & Dibden (a)
Type – 25 Overs
Report by Andrew Humphrey

The first game of the O's 2014/15 season tour opened with a loss to Hythe and Dibden by 3 wickets. Only the second time
we have played them with last year's fixture being rained off.
O's batted first and knocked up 150/7 in their allotted 25 overs. Dan Reece (formerly of Nazeing Common) and Sujan
Sube batting well together scoring 29 and 28 respectively. A good start to his O's career for Suzie Q. Slo Thiru scored
38 in a helmet which looked like a red snooker ball that Ronnie O'Sullivan would have loved to have smashed into the
bottom pocket! Vivienne Westwood has obviously not been in contact to give Slosh tips in fashion! Must also mention
Marvel's 20...and here I go, Marvel scored 20.
In return Hythe started slowly with Oli giraffe Graham, Dave Revell and Andrew Humphrey bowling economically and
picking up wickets. Jack Rumbold and Anujan Thiru also bowled but got a bit of tap but also picked up wickets.
Highlight of our fielding was a stunning catch by Jack Rumbold. Well done son, shame it all went downhill after that!
During the game Ricky Ponting arrived by bike having cycled from Chertsey. Looking for a camp site young Bryan decided
to camp next to the pitch.......the saga of Bryan's camping will continue in the reports from the following days
matches, including the introduction of a new character for children, Duke the Donkey from Salisbury.
Post match in the bar Mulholland pulled a cracking, stunning, intellectual partner. Obviously impressed with his
catalogue of stories, Mulholland pounced on the opportunity and offered his new friend a drink sensing success in true
animal instinct style! He was flatly refused but a compromise was reached if the drink was allowed to be taken off
premises and sipped T home on the couch over a log fire reminiscing about the ghosts of stories past!
A good social start to the tour with Humphrey and Marsh contributing more to the local economy than the game of cricket
itself having both consumed collectively more pints en-route to the game than the total number of residents that live
in Hythe.
And so back to the hotel and a night out in Bournemouth. Oh deary me Jack Rumbold....!
