Match Report
Date 03/08/11
Oppo – Godshill (a)
Type – 40 Overs
Report by Liam Mulholland

After all the cheap talk from the previous day reality set in as the O`s young pretenders
were put in their place by a very experienced Godshill team.Escaping from a sweltering Bournemouth
the fresh air of Godshill was just what the doctored ordered as Godshill were quickly into
their stride on a lightening fast outfield,Cousins survived a LBW shout in the 2nd over off
young A.Thiru which was smashing his poles over but the legend from Godshill survived due
to the fact the Cousins family ferried the whole team back to Bournemouth last year when the
coach failed to arrive after the match.O`s added the veteran Bob Meeks to the line up his
first game for a least 9 years as the pie thrower tried to add to his record haul of 425 wickets.

64-0 in the 12th over the O`s were getting blasted around the forest but Gordon Graham came into
the attack and bowled a fine spell of 3-25 with his gentle swingers.Godshill looked sure to post
over 200 but a good fight back by the bowlers brought the O`s back in the back with the Thiru
boys claiming 5 wickets between them, their father not so lucky as he pulled a muscle chasing
one in the outfield.178 for victory a quick start required and the O`s were away to a flier as
Williams pulled some lusty hooks to the boundary but Chatwin(3-21)ripped through the top order
reducing the O`s to 71-4 and a big partnership from Thiru(jr) and Marsh now required, the pair
batted well adding 49 before Marsh(35) was bowled in the 28th over with the score on 130.The
return of the pacy Sanger(jr)closed out the game with S.Thiru(JR) unbeaten with a fine 46 as
the O`s fell short by 19.Dreams of 3 tour victories shattered as the O`s look forward to
Woodgreen tomorrow with the weather forecast not very promising.
