ICCC 94 came to Barkingside with the series tied at 1-1. Batting first the revamped opening
pair of Paul Alexander and Ryan Naylor looked composed and classy. Opening bowlers for the O’s
Revell and Karan Shah kept things tight and as a result a suicidal run from Ryan saw him going
back to the pavilion for an early beer, Revell running him out whilst both batsmen were at the
same end. Karan then took the wicket of Miller for a quick fire leg side bash of 16. Guest
Humphrey then started cautiously with everything hitting the pad. Alexander was then out LBW
to Richardson and a good partnership from Humphrey (39no) and Vince Mulholland (44) saw the 94
side through to close with Vince run out on the last ball of the innings.
After tea, the O’s openers set about reaching the target. Zaman played with a straight bat until
he decided to play an uncharacteristic shot across the line to Rogers and saw his stumps demolished.
Wesle Benjamin came in next despite only dislocating his shoulder 2 weeks ago and playing with a
broken bone in his back, put on a good partnership with Marsh and the O’s were confident of keeping
with the required run rate until a freak run out from Vince Mulholland changed the whole game.
Having run an easy 2, Bob called for the third knowing that Vince had just picked the ball up on
the longest boundary at Barkingside. The throw took a kind bounce and pinged into the stumps as
Bob (39) looked on in astonishment. Put a tenner on that and you’ll be rich every time!!
Wesle followed shortly after for a well made 32.Heed was the only other O’s batsmen to get into
double figures as the Mulholland brothers showed the weakness in the O’s line up taking 6 wickets
between them and Vince taking three in the last over to prevent Liam from getting a well deserved
Hat-trick.
Well done to the 94 side and next week the O’s move onto play Nazeing Common at home looking to get
their season back on track and to have at least one of the Mulhollands back in the side.
