Match Report Date 03/05/15 Oppo St. Andrews (h) Type 40 Overs Report by Andrew Humphrey St Andrew was a Christian Apostle and is the patron saint of several countries and cities including: Barbados, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Ukraine, Amalfi in Italy, Esgueira in Portugal, Luqa in Malta, Parañaque in the Philippines and Patras in Greece. The more observant of readers will note that Downtown Barkingside is sadly missing from that illustrious list. However, Barkingside does instead have its very own merry bunch of saints…….and indeed sinners and these splendidly well turned out chaps once again took to the field to provide some inspirational cricketing to the thousands that make the weekly pilgrimage to Barkingside to watch their heroes. On a day when Leyton Orient were relegated from their 9 year spell in Division One, LOSCC were in need of divine inspiration to put the misery of relegation to the back of their minds and ensure there were no unnecessary CBs - well, that’s other than the usual ones which we are all accustomed to from Alan CB Wicks. (For the readers of this that are unfamiliar with the term "CB" 1) where have you been and 2) its means cry boy, yes that’s it, cry boy….). Before an extensive report of the match is provided, I thought I would write a little something dedicated to Alan CB Wicks and about CB'ing in the rain: "Alan says, he'll never let you see, the way his broken heart is hurting him He's got his pride and he knows how to hide All his sorrow and pain He does his cry boy in the rain If he waits for stormy skies, you won't know the rain from the tears in in his eyes You'll never know that he loves Liam so Though the heartaches remain So Al is a cry boy in the rain Raindrops falling from heaven via Buckhurst Hill, could never take away Al's misery Cos since he and Liam are not together He prays for stormy weather To hide these tears he hopes we'll never see Someday when Al's cry boy's done He's gonna wear a smile and bowl in the sun He aint a fool But till then, darling, you'll never see Big Al complain He'll be a cry boy in the rain LOSCC won by 121 runs.
