Type – 40 Overs
Report by Forest Thump

The O's were away to Epping Foresters on what was a pleasant Sunday afternoon and having lost the toss the O's were given
the opportunity with the ball. Louis Morgan and Dan Auton started well on a green pitch and it was 'Brylcreem' Morgan who
made the early breakthrough picking up two early wickets with some excellent bowling causing problems for the home side.
His first sent the opener on his way following a good catch by Riches and the second was an absolute corker nipping back
that any batsman would have struggled to play. Auton (1-32) also got in on the action after removing the other opener who
snicked one behind and with Foresters at 27 for 3, the O's were in full control with most discussing whether we would
have enough time to catch a flight to Rio to see the Eng v Brazil game live. Steve Ward then came in and batted 'alright'
although at times he did look very indecisive most commonly when he was caught in three minds thinking 'shall I hit this
one for a four, a six or to Theydon Bois ' Young Patel full credit to him tried his best & Auton in his second spell thought
he had found a unique way to stop Ward by launching a couple of rocket high deliveries which had the russians thinking their
Satellites were under attack. Ward was in no mood for mercy though and punished the O's for thinking the game was in the bag.
After plenty of fun playing 'Lets find the ball in the Forest' Mulholland came on to relieve some pressure managing to pick
up (4-37) to keep the statisticians at Wisden with another task of trawling through the book to see if any more bowling
records were in danger of being broken for career wickets. Revell having just taken a superb catch to give the impressive
Morgan his final wicket (3-37) then bowled a superb over & impressively removed Ward (122) who snicked one behind to
Hiscock who picked up his 3rd catch of the afternoon with the gloves. (He should have been on earlier was the cry!)
Foresters climbed to a decent score of 222 and the O's were relieved to see the 'typical Foresters tea' that was awaiting
them as they went back into the changing rooms.
After some enjoyable strawberries and cream and with a tough total to chase, Revell was soon back in the pavilion after the
Foresters nippy opener got one to clip the top of leg stump. Mulholland and skipper Heed then put on a decent partnership
to put the O's in good shape until Heed was finally caught for a hard fought 23. Hamburger then got run out after a
direct hit, Ajay chipped one up to point and Mulholland was then caught for 53, which meant the O's having started well,
were now struggling to make the chase. Marsh and Riches were together at the crease….. but not for long after a run out
which reminded most of the film Forrest Gump where the boy just refused to stop running. The ball was already in the fielders
hand but a suicide voice entered Riches head 'Run Marvel Run'…….He did keep on running….unfortunately all the way back to
the pavilion. Hiscock was then bowled and Marsh and Morgan batted out the final few overs as the O's finished with some
dignity on 174-7 falling 48 runs short.

Next up……….Thorley
