Match Report Date 01/07/12 Oppo – Epping Foresters (h) Type – 40 Overs Report by Vata Gamedatwas. The O's took part in an exciting contest with local rivals Epping Foresters on Sunday that ended in a thrilling tie. Epping Foresters decided to put the O's in first and this seemed justified early on with good tight bowling from the Forester opening pair of Ellis and Brown with Ellis accounting for the wickets of James and Thiru for single figures. The O's looked to build a reasonable score around Mulholland who was batting with exrteme care. Once the openers had finished their spells some more good tight bowling from Day and "Shane" Hubbard kept the scoring at a slow rate and the latter bowling the "Gatting" ball at Riches, pitching on leg stump and hitting the top of off as well as dismissing Gowtham also for single figures. Skipper Revell came in at 6 and along with Mulholland they put on an unbeaten 89 with Mulholland going onto score his 98th fifty for the O's and enabling the O's to post a total of 149 - 4. After tea, the Auton brothers set about the Foresters batting line up with some good bowling and with early wickets falling the O's stood a chance of wrapping up and early victory and an extended stint in the bar. However, those plans were spoilt by 2 things, a good innings from Foresters youngster H Capewell and some nice full toss dross from Dan. Wicks and Gowtham Rajasegaran came on to slow the scoring rate and to continue to tighten things up. With 2 runs required for Foresters and 2 wickets in hand, victory seemed certain. But the Orient mafia came on to bowl and with good, tight acurate death threats to the batsmen, managed to take both wickets for 1 run meaning the game ended in a tie. Great game all around.
